There has been incredible debate and hotly debated discussions over who should play the lead in the upcoming film adaptation of the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ movie. The books have become a phenomenon, selling out across the country and causing fan fervor to break out not seen since the likes of Harry Potter, twilight, and Hunger Games. The quality of the books is debatable, but the producers attached are highly skilled and Universal is a large studio that seems confident that they can make a strong adaptation of the source material.
After polls across the country, the frontrunners for the lead role, enigmatic and mysterious Christian Grey, are said to be Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer (according to Examiner). Both have already been widely discussed, with many citing Bomer’s perfect good looks as well as Somerhalder’s sexuality as a factor in the fan casting.
However, neither actor has confirmed their status for the film’s casting, although Somerhalder has commented and said he wouldn’t be adverse to the role if it was done well. There was significant backlash from some of the community over Bomer being gay and making him not suitable for the role of Grey, but many disagreed and said that he’s a fantastic actor that is believable in all situations.
