Luther actor Idris Elba is not only one of the top British actors in the business, but he is also considered to be one of the top actors around all together. Idris has played many impressive roles over the years and has built up quite a large following, making him a good casting move for any director.
The work that Idris has been doing has been so impressive in fact, that he has even been mentioned as a possibility to be the first ever black James Bond. However, it seems that we are going to have to enjoy what we have of Idris Elba the actor, as we will not be seeing much of him on the big screen for a while.
Idris Elba has confirmed that he will be taking a break from acting, as he focusses all of his efforts on his music career, "This year I’m not going to work as an actor so I can concentrate on music. I do it from the heart, not for the money," he told the Daily Mirror.
Fear not though, as we still have plenty of opportunities to see Idris Elba on the big screen this year, despite him taking a break. Idris Elba will appear in Pacific Rim, which is released on July 12 in both the US and the UK, Thor: The Dark World, which is released on October 30 in the UK and November 8 in the US and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, which is expected later this year or early 2014.
