Iggy Azalea on May 29 went on her social media Twitter page to announce that her Great Escape tour is cancelled and that she will have another concert tour after the completion of her next album. She attributed the cancellation to production delays which has created much confusion, anger and skepticism among fans and social media entertainment observers for a variety of reasons that fans have been discussing non-stop in social media conversations (The Guardian - May 31).
A T.I. backed entertainer having to cancel a tour because of 'production' issues seems ridiculous to some of her fans and social media entertainment observers because he and the people around him are not 'rookies' in the concert business and thus many would assume that any 'production' problems could be resolved in time for the tour.
Some of her fans are noting that she first postponed the 21-stop tour in March due to production delays and now she has cancelled the tour but that has not impacted her upcoming performances in the summer at music festivals in Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Quebec and Washington State and thus some fans on social media are starting to consider another reason which is ticket sales.
She is part of the rapper/actor T.I.'s record label 'Grand Hustle' and he is one man in the music business who would not 'green light' a tour unless it is guaranteed to make money.
Some social media entertainment fans and observers suspect that not all of her tour dates sold out as compared to her appearances at the music festivals in which she and several other acts will be performing and thus there is no fear about whether there will be enough attendees to make a sizeable profit.
Iggy Azalea's apology to her fans on social media for cancelling the 'Great Escape' tour was a smart first step. However, this Australian rapper would be best advised to be ready to put forth some amazing live performances at her various festival appearances during the summer months because for the first time in recent memory she is not very popular with many of her music fans and needs to get back into their good graces before they start following other artists.
