There are a lot of Australian stars in Hollywood at the moment who are making a big name for themselves on the acting scene but, not only are there not many Australian rappers in the music industry at the moment, there are also not many female rappers making a name for themselves, so being an Australian rapper is an even more unique achievement.
Enter Iggy Azalea who has been enjoying a lot of success on the rap scene over the course of the past year or so and the music star has been talking about her rise to stardom. Iggy left Australia for America to pursue her dream of becoming a rap star but she has admitted that she never expected to achieve the level of fame that she has recently.
Azalea explained, "I don't know if I expected anything. I think other people expect things and I think to myself, 'Hey look, I do female rap'. That's what I am, I'm a female rapper. That's always a weird situation, you never know how it's going to be. It's [rap] not the most popular kind of thing in the world."
The success of Iggy Azalea just goes to show you that if you want something bad enough and you work hard enough then you can achieve your dream. Iggy Azalea shot to fame thanks to the huge success of her debut album The New Classic and it will be interesting to see where she takes her music career from here and how well received her follow up album will be.
