Parker Posey is a popular comedic actress whose fan base is apparently growing very rapidly. This year, the ICA honored her by hosting a film festival dedicated solely to her work.
The first film chosen for the festival this year was 'Party Girl,' a cult movie which stars Posey and revolves around a fun-loving protagonist, Mary, who is forced into the boring position of library clerk to pay her rent. Other film choices included Richard Linklater's 'Dazed and Confused,' 'Fay Grim,' and 'Henry Fool.'
This was the second year of the annual film festival, which has even Parker Posey herself somewhat baffled. When the ICA event organizers managed to reach her by phone during an intermission, the actress seemed flattered but somewhat bewildered that she was the subject of an entire film festival all her own. She did promise, however to make an appearance in person if the festival continues next year.
With her rapidly growing fan-base and the cult popularity of many of Parker Posey's films, we don't thing she has anything to worry about. Given that she has two movies in post-production and two almost ready to begin filming, next year's Parker Posey Film Festival is sure to be even more popular and well-attended than the previous two.
