Back in 2009, many people were surprised by what a huge success the first season of the hit musical television series Glee had been. The show took of in a huge way and continued to break records with the second season of the show, before things then began to die down some.
Glee season three saw ratings begin to wane and season four was no better. However, following the death of Cory Monteith and the buzz that surround the fifth season, there were high hopes that Glee season five would come back bigger and better than ever.
Unfortunately, this has not been the case at all, in fact, it has been quite the opposite. The Glee season five premiere only managed to bring in 5.2m viewers, a massive 30% drop on the previous year. And things continue to get worse, as the second episode could only manage 4.5m viewers.
Speaking to fans of the show, it seems that they feel that Glee has lost its way a little and is just no longer the show it once was. So, with that in mind, could we see Glee getting cancelled after the fifth season? If things do not pick up soon then we must only assume so and what a sad day that will be.
