Kesha has a new interview in Vibe, and she talks about how she’s been treated over the past few years, how much she cares about her fan support, and how she’s struggled to remain true to herself amidst the music industry’s pressures.

She talks about how she knows her music can make the difference in people’s moods, and says, “I’ve really just been doing a lot of thinking about life. The first record, people tore me a new asshole, and were fucking steady on my balls, and tried to make me feel like I was such a piece of shit. I did some soul-searching, and realized nothing I’m doing is negative, it’s actually super positive. You can change peoples’ mood in a three-and-a-half minute song. So why not spread positive energy and be funny? Let [the haters] be miserable. Anyone who wants to have a good time, let’s fucking do this.”
She also talks about how she can’t pretend to be something she’s not a la many other female singers, saying, “If I tried to pretend to be something I wasn’t, people would have smelled bullshit a long time ago. I would've gotten eaten alive if I tried to be a heel-wearing little princess. It’s just not who I am. I’ve had people try to make me act right, but it’s just not gonna happen. I just can’t not say inappropriate things.”
It seems that heel wearing princess line was a thinly veined barb against Taylor Swift, but she does make a good point in that the music industry is always trying to create a persona out of singers that may not be true to their actual personality.
Kesha also recently spoke about being 'the worst waitress in LA' when she was first starting out.
