Li Na is once again in the finals of the Australian Open. In 2013 she made it to the finals but lost to Victoria Azarenka. In the 2014 Australian Open she will be taking on Domenika Cibulkova and in this match she will be the favourite as she focuses on completing the unfinished business of winning this tournament. With the exception of her third round match Li Na has been probably the most dominant player in the women's field and she is coming off a tournament win in her first tournament of the year, the 2014 Shenzhen Open.
For the past year Li Na has been knocking on the door of greatness and now she is on the verge of making history as the first Chinese woman to ever win two Grand Slam titles. If she wins the Australian Open it would be a spectacular start to her year and a great start to the 2014 Chinese New Year celebration that will occur next week.
Li Na is already considered a marketing giant as she has numerous endorsements but if she were to win the 2014 Australian Open it is very likely that her marketing possibilities would become even greater. She is considered a leader in China and with each success on the tennis court her popularity grows to incredible numbers which is best illustrated by the fact that her micro blog has over 22 million followers!
Li Na's ability to stay mentally focused and not lose confidence in herself while playing has allowed her to reach a level of consistent all around play that was previously unattainable to her and makes her a very difficult opponent and likely someone who will be too much for the courageous but overmatched Domenika Cibulkova.
2014 may be the year that Li Na becomes the woman who is able to challenge Serena Williams for the number one ranking in women's professional tennis.
