Minami Takahashi currently is one of the stars of the Japanese music scene as the leader of the Japanese idol music group AKB48 and its sister groups. She is known for her small size and beautiful model appearance and renowned for her perseverance as she bested over 7000 other females in October 2005 to become one of the leaders of AKB48 despite having only earlier that year in August 2005 losing a different talent competition. The challenge for Minami Takahashi is that is she now becoming a young woman and the question arises of whether she will ever be able to pursue more mature roles as both a singer and actress.
Minami Takahashi is a television and music star with her videos and her many followers. The sister groups of AKB48 look at her as their leader. In 2013 she released her first music single, "Jane Doe" and it is now the theme song for the Japanese television drama "Saki". The fact that she is slowly starting to sing on her own is an acknowledgement that soon she may have to relinquish her role as the leader of her idol music group as she starts singing more adult oriented songs.
The next step for Minami Takahshi is to become an actress but she is not going be able to play young girl roles because she is no longer a young girl but a woman and this is where the challenge exists for this Japanese idol star. She and her management team are going to have to find a way to slowly change how she is perceived and that might require her to either be placed in a movie role or a soap opera in which her roles become more dramatic and adult oriented.
Minami Takahshi is already a part of a television drama in that it is her song, her unmistakable voice that is the theme song for the popular television show "Saki". The next step for her career might just be a role in the television drama as she makes the transition from child star to Japanese adult music/television/movie star.
