Star Trek director J.J. Abrams is currently preparing for the release of the sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, which is released later this year and he has been talking about the possibility of a Star Trek 3 being made. J.J. says that there are currently no plans to make the movie, although he does have ideas about a possible storyline for the film.

Abrams was talking to Crave Online when he explained, “No, sir, not yet. I’m sure that the studio would love that to be a possibility but it’s up to the audience to decide if there needs to be one...There are things we’ve talked about but there’s no script or anything, it’s just ideas.”
SYNOPSIS: When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Star Trek Into Darkness stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller and is set to be released on May 17 in both the US and the UK.
