James Franco currently has three films at Sundance, ‘Lovelace’, ‘Interior Leather Bar’, and ‘Kink’. All three of them have a recurring theme of sex, but Franco mentions that it’s not really a coincident.

He says, in an interview with MTV, “If you think about the origins for each of those films, it is a coincidence. But if you think about it as there’s something in the air, and I do believe that there are waves of things that interest filmmakers or people in television, then maybe it’s not such a coincidence. It’s certainly in the air, you know what I mean, it’s not just, you know, isolated to me.”
He also talks specifically about ‘Kink’, which goes into the world of bondage and BDSM. He has a message for ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ fans, saying, “Here’s the thing. This is for all the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ fans. This is what you’re reading about. This is the real thing, this is what it looks like. This isn’t the dime store version of bondage, this is what bondage is like.”

Well, we can be sure that Franco definitely isn’t interested in playing Christian Grey in the movie. He doesn’t seem to find ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ to be dark enough if he’s calling it the ‘dime store version’ of bondage, but however they make the movie, it seems like the filmmakers will have their job cut out for them.
