It has been reported by the guys over at Variety, that former The Sopranos star James Gandolfini has signed up to star in the movie Animal Rescue. The movie has been putting together a rather impressive cast so far, which will see James joining the likes of Noomi Rapace and Tom Hardy for the film.

Noomi Rapace stars in the film
Animal Rescue is based on the Dennis Lehane novel of the same name. The film centres around a lonely barman (Tom Hardy) who finds and rescues a puppy from a trash can. Unfortunately, this does not go down too well with the puppy's former owner, who is mentally unstable and abusive. Meanwhile, back at the bar that he works at, the lonely barman finds himself caught up in the middle of a criminal conspiracy, due to the bar being run by the mob.
It has not yet been mae officially clear exactly who James Gandolfini will be playing but he certainly has a fine fit for the abusive former dog owner, or even that of a mob guy running a bar.

Tom Hardy plays the male lead
Animal Rescue will be directed by Michael R. Roskam and, as well as starring Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and James Gandolfini, the movie also has James Frecheville attached to the project. Animal Rescue is expected to begin production later this year, with a 2014 release date being eyed.
