There have been stories and rumours about The Crow remake for a number of years now, with a whole host of different actors being linked to the lead role. Hollywood stars such as Channing Tatum and Mark Wahlberg had been linked, while it looked like Bradley Cooper was going to star in The Crow at one point.

However, Bradley Cooper left the project, when it was confirmed that director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo would no longer be directing The Crow remake. F. Javier Gutierrez was then brought on board to direct the movie and it appears that he has now found who he wants as his leading man.
According to the guys over at Bloody Disgusting, Gutierrez is trying to get X-Men: First Class actor James McAvoy on boar, to star in The Crow remake, as the lead character Eric Draven. There is no official dates for the start of production or an official release date, but they are expected to be announced soon.

While F. Javier Gutierrez is directing The Crow remake, Edward R. Pressman, Jeff Most and Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh. Relativity’s Tooley (Immortals) will produce the movie, while The Weinstein Company’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Farah Films’ Dan Farah (Armored) will be executive producers.
