Jamie Bell has always been a solid up-and-coming actor, never quite breaking into A-list stardom but always hovering around the edges. He works with great directors and has a strong reputation in the industry, but he's not a recognized name in the celebrity world, which he probably prefers. However, that's about to change, what with his landing one of the lead roles in the Fantastic Four reboot and also his new TV show, 'Turn'.
The Fantastic Four film will be a great launchpad into the mainstream, since it seems like all young actors need franchises to help establish their name in the industry. It will also allow him greater leeway with the films and roles he chooses. He's flirted with franchise roles in the past, with a supporting role in Jumper, but nothing on this level. Plus, everyone involved in the reboot is very talented, and that ought to help with the actual quality of the film.
Turn, on the other hand, looks like a very solid TV show that will enable audiences to get familiar with Bell on a week-to-week basis. The new AMC revolutionary drama focuses on the Culper Spy ring, so we know it's not going to really be boring, but it's also been getting strong reviews, especially for Bell's acting.
Basically, Jamie Bell is on the cusp of stardom, and these two roles will push him over the edge [and don't be surprised if Turn also lands him on lists for awards consideration]. But will it be enough to make him a star? That, we'll just have to wait and see.
