There was a lot of discussion earlier in the year surrounding who was going to be playing the lead role, in the latest offering from director Quentin Tarantino, Django Unchained. A few names were thrown around, including Will Smith and Idris Elba but in the end, the role of the titular character went to Ray actor, Jamie Foxx. Jamie has stated that he is honoured to be a part of the movie.
Fox explained, “Sometimes we sort of forget why we’re in Hollywood as actors and actresses, ‘coz were doing so many other things. But at the end of the day, cinema is really what it’s all about. I’m so honored and blessed to be with Leonardo (DiCaprio), Quentin Tarantino, Samuel L. Jackson, I believe Kurt Russell and some others.”
Quentin Tarantino, who wrote the screenplay for the movie and will direct the film, has gone about getting together an all star cast for Django Unchained and, as well as Jamie Foxx, the movie will also star Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Sacha Baron Cohen. Django Unchained is set to start filming in the new year, with a release date lined up for December 25, 2012.
