The X Factor is fast approaching its final and at the weekend, Irish teenager Janet Devlin was the latest to be eliminated from the show. However, it is probably better for everyone, including Janet, that she has left the show before the final week. Janet has a very unique voice that, in all honesty, was never really suited to the manufactured pop show, which produces more of the same, year on year.
Janet Devlin is a young girl with an alternative taste in music and a keen desire to learn about the industry, from how to play all the different instruments, to how to get the best from her voice. People have criticised Janet a lot in recent weeks and these are the people that would rather see another Olly Murs, JLS or One Direction come from the show.
Considering Janet Devlin is still only 16 years old, she held herself very well while being told she was not going through. While Kelly Rowland and Misha B were crying their eyes out, Janet held strong and left with a smile. Janet Devlin is sure to be a name that we hear much more of in the future, as her vocal gift is a joy to behold and her talent for music, how it is meant to be made, is bound to make a star of this girl.
As for the remaining finalists on The X Factor, we have same old same old. Marcus Collins, while he does have a great singing voice, his style of music is basically just a rip off of Olly Murs and we do not need another Olly Murs. Misha B has a very powerful voice but once again is just a poor imitation of Nicki Minaj. Amelia Lily, again has a great voice but is simply a poor man’s Christina Aguilera and finally Little Mix have nothing different from any girl band before them, apart from the fact that none of these girls are actually pretty. Arriba!!
