Mad Men actress January Jones, who plays the character Betty Draper in the hit ABC television series, has admitted that she is regularly having to defend her character. January claimed that she felt like Betty was getting a bit of a hard time just lately.

Jones explained, "I find myself defending [Betty] a lot more often, just because people are pretty hard on her lately. All of her actions are justified. Her husband's cheating on her, and then she finds out he's not who he says he is. That probably warrants a divorce.”
She added, “And, you know, Sally (Kiernan Shipka) shouldn't be masturbating at other people's houses or she's going to get slapped. I don't always agree with her. [Betty's] emotional maturity level is hard to understand - she doesn't deal with certain situations very well."

January Jones’ Mad Men co star John Slattery recently spoke out in defence of the actress, after she was criticised by a former child actor on the show for being unapproachable, something which John completely disagreed with.
Mad Men season five is set to premiere in the US on March 25 on ABC before hitting the UK on Sky Atlantic on March 27.
