When it was announced that the Suicide Squad movie was being brought to the big screen, there were a lot of very excited fans all over the world and that excitement grew further still, when it was announced that we would be getting a new version of The Joker in the film. There were then plenty of suggestions as to which actor should play The Joker in Suicide Squad, with pretty much every comic book movie fan having an opinion on the matter.

It was then finally revealed that Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto had been cast in the role of The Joker for Suicide Squad, which was welcome news to the majority of the fans, although you are never going to please everyone. With that said, it is pretty much a lose/lose situation for Jared, considering the fact that he is following in the footsteps of the late great Heath Ledger, who won an Oscar for his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight.
The problem is going to be getting the character right, as if Jared Leto gives us a similar take on The Joker that we got from Heath Ledger, then the fans are going to criticize him for trying to copy what Heath did, which Jared will never be able to emulate. Meanwhile, if they go too far away from that version of The Joker, then some fans will claim that they have not got the character right or accuse the makers of being too scared to give us The Joker in the right way.

Either way, there is no doubt that Jared Leto is going to receive a lot of criticism from some areas of the comic book movie fans, although we are sure that he is getting paid enough money to just take it on the chin. There is no denying that Jared Leto is an extremely talented actor and we look forward to seeing his take on The Joker in Suicide Squad, which will open on August 5, 2016.
