American singer Jason Derulo has had a rather interesting career to date but found his progress as an artist being stalled because of a broken neck he suffered back in 2012. Jason was performing a stunt on stage when he judged it wrong, landed awkwardly and ended up breaking his neck.
Jason Derulo went through a long recovery process but, in that time, he has managed to put together a new album which he has titled Talk Dirty. Going through such an ordeal is bound to have an effect on the material on the album and Jason has now admitted that he made the record for selfish reasons.
Derulo told the US edition of OK! Magazine, "I think it's [the album] more of a representation of who I am as a person. I love to have a good time. I made this album for selfish reasons. I was trying to get myself out of a rut so I wasn't doing it for anyone else, it was me just trying to get myself out of a dark place because of the injury I had."
Jason added that he was looking forward to people getting to know him better, "It wasn't about writing a hit album, it wasn't about writing a hit song, but it was about making myself feel good and in the end I got an album that you can get to know me better on. That's what I'm excited about. A lot of people have heard the hit songs but who is Jason Derulo?"
Jason Derulo has collaborated with a number of impressive stars on his Talk Dirty album, including the likes of Jordin Sparks, Snoop Lion and 2 Chainz. The new album has turned out quite well and Jason has admitted that he is very pleased with the record.
