Following the huge success of the new X-Men movies, with X-Men: First Class going on to make an impressive $353m worldwide and new movie X-Men: Days of Future Past expected to make even more than that, there has been a lot of talk about potential spin-off movies for some of the characters. One such character who has had a lot of talk about a standalone movie of late, is the Jennifer Lawrence character Mystique.
Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique on Empire cover
Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence first appeared as Mystique in the movie X-Men: First Class and reprises the role for X-Men: Days of Future Past and has become a very popular character among fans. This has led to plenty of talk about a possible Mystique standalone film, which could be made even easier by the cut in time that it takes to do the bodypainting.
Jennifer Lawrence has made no secret about the fact that she found the bodypainting part of playing Mystique very frustrating for X-Men: First Class, and it is not surprising considering it took almost nine hours to do each time. However, there has been a significant cut in time for the bodypainting, which only took around three hours to do for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It is likely that they will find even better techniques over the coming years that could bring the time down even further, which could certainly appeal to Jennifer Lawrence agreeing to take on the role once again for a Mystique spin-off movie. Until there is official confirmation of that happening though, we will just have to make do with seeing Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which opens on May 22 in the UK and May 23 in the US.
