Jennifer Lawrence won the Best Actress Oscar tonight and became the second youngest person in history to do so – but after hearing her name and rushing to get up to the podium to accept her award, she ended up tripping on the stairs. While it would have been humiliating for anyone else, Jennifer quickly brushed it off and got up on the stage to begin her speech [after receiving a standing ovation].

After giving a charming speech thanking her family, friends and cast members of ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, she went backstage to talk to members of the press about her award.
She spoke about the embarrassing trip, joking, “Was that on purpose? Absolutely.” She added, “Look at this dress. I tried to walk upstairs in this dress. That’s what happened. I think I just stepped on the fabric and they waxed the stairs.” She also spoke about what was going through her mind when she fell, admitting, “A bad word that I can’t say. That starts with F.”

Silver Linings Playbook had 8 Oscar nominations
She needn’t have worried; the incident endeared her even more to the millions of viewers watching from home as well as the hundreds of industry folk watching from their seats in the auditorium.
