Oscar nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence has revealed how she planned to get her tongue pierced, in a bid to make her Silver Linings Playbook performance more believable. However, Jennifer's mother did not agree with the idea and sent the actress an email, telling her all of the different ways that a tongue piercing could affect her.

This led to Jennifer listening to her mothers advice and, after realising that she would not be able to speak properly for a while, she decided not to go ahead with it. The decision seemed to have paid off, after Jennifer received rave reviews for her performance in the movie.
Lawrence told the Globe tabloid, “My mom wrote me an email of all these things that I could die from. She was like, 'The infection could go to your heart, your tongue could split in half!' I was like, 'What if she's right?' I realised I wouldn't be able to talk properly for, like, eight months.”
