Jennifer Love Hewitt joined the cast of Criminal Minds in the fall of 2014 amid much consternation from fans about whether she would be a good 'fit' on the show. However, as Rebecca Grace of the online entertainment publication 'Liberty Voice' has noted, she is gaining a large number of fans because of the interaction of her character, Kate Callahan with SSA David Rossi (played by Joe Mantegna) which for many observers is similar to a daughter-father banter.
It has become obvious that her presence on the show has provided it a new infusion of energy and interest that the show has needed as the "decade long running show has not seen such better days for some time as it now does with the actress having taken place in the current season" (Liberty Voice - November 13).
Interestingly it has also shown me that Jennifer Love Hewitt is more than a beautiful actress whose gorgeous looks are needed for her to keep viewers drawn to her shows. In "Criminal Minds" she shows a dramatic range that I did not anticipate she had and a grit that is a little different than that displayed on her past show "The Client List". In that show one could actually relate to some of the decisions she had to make and while they were difficult decisions they were easy to understand.
In "Criminal Minds" the emotional issues she deals with concerning the plane crash which killed her brother and sister-in-law and the raising of their daughter into a teenager has forced her to dig 'deep' and show a dramatic range that is very impressive and likely has forced some fans of the show to forget who she is replacing as she captivates them with her acting.
Jennifer Love Hewitt has proved herself to be a great addition to "Criminal Minds" and also shown herself as an actress of considerable 'acting chops' in addition to her gorgeous looks.
