Former Formula One World Champion Jenson Button has hit back at Irishman Eddie Irvine, who has claimed that Jenson is just doing enough to get by. Jenson laughed off the claim and insisted that he works hard in every race and hopes to once again become World Champion in the future.
Eddie started the war of words by saying, "Jenson is doing nothing special. He just does a reasonable job. He knows he will never again be world champion and he drives accordingly." However, Button did not share Irvine’s point of view and even questioned why the ex Ferrari number two was even talking about the sport.
Jenson explained, "Why is Eddie still taking about Formula One? Is he missing it? It's very sweet, though. All I can say is that it was fun winning the World Championship, and I hope to do it again." Jenson Button goes into the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend in third place in the overall standings, 9 points ahead of McLaren team mate Lewis Hamilton.
