Veteran actress Jessica Lange has been in the entertainment industry for a very long time now and you would expect that she has done pretty much everything the industry has to offer. Jessica currently stars in the hit television series American Horror Story: Freak Show, which is the fourth season of the anthology, and the actress has spoken about having to sing in the series, including songs by David Bowie and Lana Del Rey.
Lange explained, "I’ve never thought of myself as a singer, not even a singer — but someone who could sing. So this has been kind of like an extraordinary experience to actually do it, and then do it like a big musical number, [Laughs.] like some kind of rock star. Yeah, it's been kind of crazy."
As well as talking about having to sing the David Bowie song, Jessica Lange also went on to talk about her character Elsa Mars in the American Horror Story: Freak Show, which currently airs on FX. Jessica says that she is really enjoying digging deeper into the back story of her character, who has a lot more to offer.
Lange added, "I think she's the most complete. Because we're really exploring her history too, that lends—I mean, it just adds so much more to when we're playing scenes in the present to have an idea of the kind of tragedy that this woman suffered in the past. We're touching on stuff that's so horrific but I think they did it delicately enough so we didn't see the legs actually coming off and limbs flying and blood splattering. I felt we didn't need that.”
There are still plenty more episodes left of this season of the series, so we still get to learn plenty more about Elsa Mars, with plenty more of Jessica Lange on our screens. American Horror Story: Freak Show airs on FX on Wednesdays at 10pm.
