Double Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster has been in the entertainment industry for many years now and is still considered one of the top actress around. Jodie has a number of projects lined up over the next few years and she is showing no signs of slowing down.
Up next for Jodie Foster, is the role of Secretary Rhodes, in the movie Elysium, which sees Matt Damon starring in the lead role. While we have no doubt that Jodie will put in a fantastic performance in the movie, it has been revealed that the role was actually written for a male star.
Director Niel Blomkamp toyed with the idea of casting a woman, explaining, "I thought, 'That would be f**king awesome, but there's just no way'. But then, within like a day, I had a meeting with her and she said, 'I want to play it'. I was like, 'Holy s**t!'"
Meanwhile, Jodie Foster is a self-confessed fan of Neil Blomkamp and his movie District 9, so was eager to work with him. She added, "I felt it was a perfect movie that I wished I'd been a part of. I was just like, 'Whatever Neill does next, I'll do.'"
Elysium opens on August 9 in the US, before hitting the big screen in the UK on August 21. Check out the Elysium trailer below.
