Most of you will recognise the name, and the face, of Joe Pantoliano from the many movies and television shows that he has appeared in over the years. Joe has starred in such hits as The Matrix, The Sopranos, The Fugitive, The Goonies, Memento and Risky Business, to name just a few.
However, what some of you might not know, is that Joe Pantoliano was once diagnosed with clinical depression. Joe admits that he knew that there was something that was not quite right with him, years before he was diagnose, "It was as if I was born with a huge hole inside of me," he explained.
Fortunately for Joe Pantoliano, he managed to seek the help that he needed and has been able to fight his clinical depression ever since. So, if there was one message that Joe could give to those suffering from mental illness, or the loved ones of someone suffering, it would be, "You are not alone."
With that in mind, Joe Pantoliano has agreed to be one of the guest speakers, when The Mental Health Association of CT presents The Art of Well-Being lecture on November 16, at the Hartford Club. The event aims to bring more public awareness to mental health illness and the issues around it.
