It is the news that everybody who watched and enjoyed the first episode of Arrow are going to be very disappointed ti hear. The campest man on television right now, John Barrowman is set to appear in the new DC television series. While Barrowman is a very good actor, he cannot fail to come across camp and it could be bad news for Arrow.

Kreisberg told Collider, “I'm a lifelong Doctor Who fan - like Peter Davison / Colin Baker lifelong fan. So, when John Barrowman's name came up for this part... I basically laid out the plan that we had for his character, and who he is and how he relates to everybody and what's going on, because we didn't have a lot written.”
He added, "I said, 'So, I guess I'm asking you to take a leap of faith'. He said, 'It's funny, seven years ago, [former Who showrunner] Russell T Davies told me to take a leap of faith with him, and I hear your passion and creativity the way I heard his. So, let's do it!' That was the best phone call I've ever gotten."

The first episode of Arrow premiered on The CW this week and earned rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The is an air of darkness about the series and it seems that John Barrowman would probably bring some needed lightness to the show but it remains to be seen.
Arrow continues in the US on The CW at 8/7c on Wednesday nights before it premieres in the UK on Sky1 at 8pm on Monday, October 22.
