Everybody seems to think that having a baby and raising a family is one of the greatest things in the world and, while it is a truly magical experience, there are many women out there who actually struggle when the baby is first born, often not knowing what exactly is the problem, with some being too afraid or too embarrassed to ask for help.
Suffering from postnatal depression is actually a lot more common than you might think, with a number of big name stars going through it, and having the courage to actually come out and talk about their problems. Chrissy Teigen recently spoke about how she has been suffering from postnatal depression, and now her husband John Legend has heaped praise on her for being so brave.
The music superstar said, "(As a man) you don’t know internally what it feels like….You need to be present and you need to be compassionate. And we’re all learning and trying to figure it out as we go. I think it was powerful for her to let a lot of women know they’re not alone, and no matter how much money you have or fame, anybody can feel that."
So, if you are suffering from postnatal depression and you feel that it is not normal, then think again. You are not alone and you should not be worried about talking to someone about your problems, as it is a natural thing that millions of women go through. So be strong, ask for help and you will be back to you loving best in no time at all.
