There are a lot of impressive actors in Hollywood these days with a lot of these stars coming from overseas, including a huge amount of impressive British stars making a name for themselves in the movie making industry. One such actor, who has enjoyed a lot of success in Hollywood over the past few years, is Irish The Tudors star Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Over the course of his career, Jonathan Rhys Meyers has taken on some very interesting roles in some very impressive projects, such as the lead role in Dracula, and he has another interesting role coming up. Jonathan will take on the role of the sinister Father Gaunt in the big screen adaptation of the hit novel The Secret Scripture and it seems that the role was a rather poignant one for the actor.
Meyers was chatting to the London Evening Standard, when he revealed to then that he once considered becoming a priest for real, "I felt I was quite isolated, and I think that's what attracted me. The monastic lifestyle is very isolated. But actually I wasn't suited to priesthood at all. It would have driven me mad," he explained.
As well as starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the impressive The Secret Scripture cast also includes Jessica Chastain, Jeremy Irons and Vanessa Redgrave. The Secret Scripture will be directed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan, based on the screenplay that was developed by Johnny Ferguson from the Sebastian Barry novel. It is expected that The Secret Scripture will open sometime in 2015 but, for now, there is no official release date for the movie.
