There are certain characters in Hollywood who the movie makers keep coming back to time and time again, with one of the most popular characters of all time having to be the super detective Sherlock Holmes. We have seen a huge amount of different television shows and movies based on Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr Watson, and we will no doubt see many more to come for many more years.
One of the biggest and best Sherlock Holmes television shows to ever grace the small screen would have to be the hit UK series Sherlock, which sees the brilliant Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of Sherlock Holmes, while Martin Freeman plays his sidekick Dr Watson. However, the UK version of this show, which is titled Elementary and star Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock and Lucy Liu as Watson, is more than a match for it.
It really is hard to say which one of these shows is better, with there being plenty of pros and cons for both shows. Benedict Cumberbatch gives a fantastic performance as Sherlock, probably just edging Jonny Lee Miller, while we would have to say that, while we were a bit sceptical of a female Watson, Lucy Liu has been absolutely brilliant, showing that it was a gamble that was worth taking and has paid off.
When push comes to shove though, and we have to choose one over the other, we would probably have to go with Sherlock, as it was the show that made Elementary get made and seems to have something a little big more edgy that Elementary, although we do love them both. Anyone think that a Sherlock and Elementary crossover would be a great idea?
