With 50/50 set to hit the big screen in the US at the end of this month, it has been suggested that the performance of Joseph Gordon-Levitt could be worthy of an Oscar nomination. It is quite an achievement considering Joseph took the role at short notice following the withdrawal of James McAvoy.
James had to pull out with just one week left before filming began due to a family emergency and Joseph was more than happy to fill in. He explained, “It’s not a journalistic biopic. I made a movie about how it felt for Will. It’s a really honest story.”
Joseph added, “That’s why it’s funny. With a lot of movies, you walk on eggshells or are too timid or are unwilling to admit the fact that during the darkest times there are hilarious things that happen. That was Will’s experience.” Joseph Gordon-Levitt can be seen in 50/50, alongside Seth Rogen when it hits the US on September 30.
