There was once a time when Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett seemed to be almost everywhere, making a number of big movies in his career, becoming one of the most sought after actors in the industry. Everyone wanted a piece of Josh in his younger years but the actors career seemed to fizzle out and he now spends his time making indie movies.
At the height of his Hollywood superstardom, Josh Hartnett was linked to playing the role of Spider-Man, as well as Batman, while it was also claimed that he was offered a $100m three movie deal to play Superman. However, Josh decided to turn down these opportunities and he has now spoken about his reasons for not wanting to play a superhero on the big screen.
Harnett explained, "Spider-Man was something we talked about. Batman was another one. I somehow knew those roles had potential to define me, and I didn't want that. I didn't want to be labeled as Superman for the rest of my career. I was maybe 22, but I saw the danger."
With that said, it now seems that Josh has a very different view on playing superheroes and would definitely consider suiting up for a comic book movie role, "I'd say, 'Let's talk about how it would be done, see if we can get on the same page.' Compromise doesn't scare me anymore," added Hartnett.
As for his acting career these days, 35-year-old Josh Hartnett will next be seen in an all-star cast, which includes Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Rory Kinnear, Helen McCrory and Billie Piper, in the upcoming television series Penny Dreadful, which will premiere on Showtime on May 11.
