While some fans have stuck with How I Met Your Mother for the entire eight seasons so far, there are those who feel that he show lost its way a long time ago. However, How I Met Your Mother is returning for a ninth season of the show, which many expect to be the last. Josh Radnor, who stars as Ted in How I Met Your Mother, has spoken about where season nine will pick up.
Radnor explained to Collider, "Well there’s a mass migration to the Farhampton Inn for Barney and Robin’s wedding. So we last left our gang when Lily and Ted were driving out together, Barney and Robin were driving out together, and Marshall was planning to come back out form Minnesota for the wedding. So there’s this kind of mass" Josh also spoke about Ted's girlfriends over the years."
He added, "The fans are kind of the unofficial record keepers of the show and one time I saw something that was like two rows of photographs of all of Ted’s girlfriends. I don’t know how many. There have been a lot. But it was shocking. And some of them I went like, 'Who is that?' [Laughs] You’re like, 'Oh, I forgot I dated that person.' They might have just been in one episode. There have been a lot."
As well as the return of Josh Radnor as Ted, How I Met Your Mother season nine will also see the return of Neil Patrick Harris as Barney, Jason Segel as Marshall, Cobie Smulders as Robin, and Alyson Hannigan as Lily. How I Met Your Mother season nine premieres on CBS on September 23.
