Joss Whedon was a busy man in 2012 – in addition to directing the biggest film of 2012 [the Avengers], he also managed to find time to make ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, a much smaller film than Avengers, but one that was critically acclaimed and found a passionate audience.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Whedon discusses his plans for 2013, saying that he would like to make a sequel to 2008’s Internet sensation ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog’, starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillon. He says, “We really want to shoot it next year. We feel strong about the idea and we have a bunch of stuff written.”
However, he adds that he doesn’t have a lot of free time in 2013, saying, “I have a certain bandwidth issue I am trying to overcome.” Of course, he managed to make ‘Much Ado’ while putting the finishing touches on the Avengers, and he adds that fans have a way of losing you if you only make blockbuster movies, saying, “These giant things take three years to make. If you don’t have anything else coming out, people who are used to having you once a week feel like they’ve lost you to a certain extent.”

He says that he’ll have to find a balance between helping out on the SHIELD TV show, Avengers 2, and making Dr. Horrible 2, saying, “I have to maintain a fine balance between not hurting The Avengers, which is my number one priority right now, and not be the guy who shows up once a month and undoes everything that’s been done by everyone else.”
