There has been a lot of complaints over the years, that there have not been enough strong female roles for actresses in Hollywood these days, with many people calling for this to change. Meanwhile, there has also been a lot of calls for Marvel to up their game when it comes to female characters, since there are a lot of female superheroes who could be used in their movies.
Cobie Smulders plays Maria Hill

Well, it seems that Joss Whedon has taken these ideas on board for his next Marvel movie project Avengers: Age of Ultron, bringing in some more female characters for the film. Joss has been talking about the strong female presence that we will see in Avengers: Age of Ultron, revealing that there will be four female characters with important roles in the movie.

Whedon explained, "There are four prominent female roles in the centre of the movie and I think a more balanced presence throughout the movie but the guys are all there and there is more of them too. Hopefully it will satisfy everybody, I'm not trying to fill an agenda but I'm interested in men and women, I'm interested in grown ups who act like children, and dress like clowns, and punch each other."
