Joss Whedon is now running the Marvel Universe, which is starting to consist of quite an extended universe. Whedon was at the ABC Upfronts earlier this week, where Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' got a series order from the network. Whedon was understandably happy, but in addition to making sure the show runs smoothly, he also has to start preparing for Avengers 2.

When speaking to IGN at the upfronts, Whedon spent a few minutes discussing Avengers 2 and he did confirm that the brother-sister duo of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be appearing in the film. He explained, "You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with the Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.”
He also talks about the ending of Iron Man 3 and the effects it will have on Avengers 2 [major spoilers ahead for Iron Man 3], saying, "Well, I feel like in Iron Man 3, even though he said, ‘I’ve changed’ — he blew up his remote suits, but I don’t think anybody thinks he doesn’t have one anymore. The question is, if The Avengers are called, does he show up? And the answer is, ‘Yes!’”

Iron Man 3 is currently out in theaters
Now, there are rumors floating around that Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye could be recast, so it's pretty clear that the sequel to last summer's box office smash could be undergoing some major changes. 'The Avengers 2' will be releasing worldwide on May 1, 2015.
