The Avengers director Joss Whedon has revealed how he desperately wanted to become the director of the Star Wars: Episode VII movie. Unfortunately for Joss, he had to be honest with himself and rule himself out as a possible director, as he is still working hard on The Avengers sequel.

Joss Whedon wanted to direct Star Wars: Episode VII
Whedon explained, "I'm as angry as you should be. When I heard that I was like, 'I wonder... no, I really can't do that. Oh, I already have a job.' I wouldn't clear the Avengers. I'm having so much fun with that sequel right now, just with the script, that I couldn't imagine not doing it.”
Joss Whedon is not the first director to rule himself out of directing Star Wars: Episode VII, as a number of other top Hollywood names have also rejected the job. Among those to withdraw themselves from the running are J.J. Abrams, Brad Bird, Guillermo del Toro and Wes Anderson.

Joss Whedon is too busy with The Avengers 2
The search is still on for a director for Star Wars: Episode VII, which is currently being written by Michael Arndt and is set to be released in 2015. Meanwhile, Joss Whedon is currently writing the script for The Avengers 2, which is set to be released on May 1, 2015.
