Dame Judi Dench is 78, and she continues to prove that chronological age is nothing more than a number to write on a piece of paper. The acclaimed English actress recently wowed fans when she made an appearance at fund-raising dinner to benefit the Sam Wannamaker Playhouse.
Dench was dressed in tailored black slacks paired with a matching black top. Her ensemble was elevated by the addition of a silver-grey jacket that added just the right amount of “glitz”. The acclaimed star of television, stage and movies was elegant, classy and unfailingly polite as she posed for pictures at Shakespeare’s Globe where she was accompanied by her daughter and grandson.
One can easily understand why this stately woman has earned so many accolades and awards during her career. Judi Dench epitomizes what a strong female should be in these turbulent, modern times. In between her acting stints she finds time for charity work, friends and family. She is a dedicated advocate for the disadvantaged tribes in Africa as well as disabled children in England. Although her last television role was in 2011 “Return to Cranford”, she has continued to keep busy creating memorable film characters for the big screen.
Many movie buffs will remember Dench for her roles in such films as “Chocolat” and “Shakespeare in Love”. She also won millions of fans when she portrayed the character “M” in the 1995 James Bond flick, “Golden Eye.” You can also enjoy Dench in “My Week with Marilyn”, “Skyfall” and “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.”
