American alpine skier Julia Mancuso recently won a bronze medal in the combined alpine event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia and befitting her personality has now expressed a willingness to challenge herself in a completely different field of competition but a competition nevertheless. During a Twitter fan interaction question and answer session the bronze medalist from the Winter Olympics expressed a willingness to participate in the "Dancing With the Stars" 2014 competition noting that she "loves to dance".
Julia Mancuso is known as a daredevil world class athlete. To stay in shape for skiing during the offseason she surfs and following her bronze medal win at the 2014 Winter Olympics and the conclusion of the skiing competition she celebrated her win by going skiing in the Black Sea in Russia, during the winter. On her last day in Sochi, Julia Mancuso went surfing in the Black Sea thanks to NBC reporter Sal Maskeal who helped her get a wetsuit and surfboard and the two of them engaged in the fun activity of surfing. Julia Mancuso was so thrilled that she actually taped some of her surfing just so that she could prove to her friends that she actually did surf in the Black Sea during the month of February after she finished competing. For a lover of surfing and a constant thrill seeker, surfing in the Black Sea was one of the best gifts for earning a medal that she could have received.
The "Dancing with the Stars" competition needs celebrity performers who have big personalities and enjoy being in the spotlight and have no fear of trying something new. The celebrity performers should also be very competitive individuals as that is part of what has made them successful in their endeavors. There is probably no one on the United States Olympic team who fits all the criteria that is necessary to be a great competitor on "Dancing with the Stars" than Julia Mancuso and if the show truly wants to continue receiving its great ratings it would be wise to add US Olympic alpine star Julia Mancuso to its 2014 lineup of celebrity contestants.
