There has been a lot of talk about the future of the hit CBS television series The Good Wife, especially since actress Julianna Margulies seemed to suggest that the show would come to an end this year. Julianna was a guest at the Casting Society of America's Artios Awards, where The Good Wife show runners Michelle King and Robert King were being honoured, when she made the teasing comments.
Margulies said to the watching crowd, "I surprised Robert and Michelle tonight. They didn’t know I was going to be here. They think I’m here for them, but I’m unemployed come April, and I think you haven’t seen me in a while – at least not in person – so I thought I should show up." This was clearly intended as a joke but it seems that there could also be some truth in what she is saying.
Robert King and Michelle King have already stated that they will not continue in their capacity as show runners, if The Good Wife is renewed for an eighth season at CBS, which has led many to suggest that it is probably best to call it a day and bring The Good Wife to an end. With that in mind, we are going to miss seeing Julianna Margulies on our television screens every week but could it be a blessing in disguise?
With Julianna Margulies not having to commit so much of her time to The Good Wife, it opens up the door for a number of new opportunities for the actress, who we would love to see back on the big screen. We have not seen Julianna in a new movie for around four years now and we hope that, should The Good Wife come to an end, she decides to focus more on her movie career.
