Steven Spielberg’s long time collaborator, producer Kathleen Kennedy, has confirmed that they are still looking to make a Jurassic Park 4 but are just waiting on the script to be written to their high expectations. Kathleen admitted that they do not want to make another Jurassic Park sequel just for the sake of it and that the script will have to be just right.
Kennedy explained, “A great script is what it’s going to take to get a fourth Jurassic Park. We have a very high bar for ourselves because we’re just like the audience, we don’t want to make the movie if there’s not a reason to make the movie. So we’ve kind of created the dilemma ourselves because it was never intended to be a franchise,”
She added, “There’s an argument to be made ‘Why are you doing a fourth Jurassic Park?’ So we’ve got to find a good reason for why we’re doing a fourth Jurassic Park and we’re in the midst of working on that right now.” The first Jurassic Park movie was released in 1993, with the Jurassic Park 2 in 1997 and Jurassic Park 3 in 2001. The Jurassic Park franchise has made nearly $2billion since the first movie was released.
