Actress, director and producer Laura Dern gained the attention of audiences in her performance as Dr. Ellie Sattler, opposite Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park (1993). Of noteworthiness in her performance is Dern's ability to show believable emotions that lend credibility to her characters. In Jurassic Park for example, Ellie is plagued with bouts of immense fear, surprise and horror as she faces the prospects of being eaten by a dinosaur, and it is shown in her facial expressions and body language. This is a trait that we see throughout many of the roles that she has has played, and for movie goers, that is a key factor in overall satisfaction with the film.

Laura Dern is a solid actress
Whether comedy, fantasy or drama, Laura delivers her performances strongly. She portrays the main character Rose in Rambling Rose (1991), the daughter of Robert Duvall's character. Her father catches her sleeping with a boy and the aftermath performance is exceptional as she truly rambles with embarrassment and fear, trying to ensure that her father does the boy no harm, and understands on some level that she is only human. She draws the audience in with her body language and seeming struggle to right the situation.
Her performance in Little Fockers (2010) as Prudence, whose name alludes to her demeanor as a fairly uptight private school administrator is right on the money. Her demeanor and speech patterns create the aura of a slightly priggish high class professional who puts on an air of forced cordiality as she deals with the somewhat embarrassing behavior of Ben Stillers' character in the film's children. She emits the persona of the character she portrays to a tee.
