Karl Urban talks Dredd
Back in 1995, Sylvester Stallone was involved in, what can only be described as an absolutely awful attempt at bringing Judge Dredd to the big screen. Now, Lionsgate are preparing to release a brand new adaptation of Judge Dredd, which is simply titled Dredd and to be fair, they cannot really do any worse. 39 year old actor Karl Urban will be portraying Judge Dredd this time around and he seems pretty excited about the movie.
Urban explained, “You know what? We had a really good shoot and, from what I have seen, I’m really kind of quietly pretty confident about it.” He then continued by adding, “John Wagner came out, he was on the set and was happy, So I think that is a good sign, if John Wagner is happy.”
As well as Karl Urban, Dredd will also star Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey, Juno actress Olivia Thirlby and Chronicle actor Luke Tyler. Dredd has been director by Pete Travis, who has previously directed Vantage Point and Endgame, and the screenplay was penned by Alex Garland. Dredd is set to be released in both the US and the UK on September 21, 2012.
