Leavesden Studios, known for a decade as home to the Harry Potter cast and crew, recently had a revamped grand opening. Both Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the opening, and spoke about their admiration for the studios and the affect it had on the British film industry. They also spoke about their affection for Harry Potter and revealed that they were big fans of the franchise.
Will and Kate toured the studios and took several pictures on the Harry Potter sets, including the Great Hall and Diagon Alley. While there, Prince William admitted, "I haven't read the books but I have seen all the films." However, Kate revealed that she was a big fan, saying, "The films are good and the books are great, aren't they?"
Will also gave credit to the legacy that the Harry Potter series left behind for Leavesden studios and the British film industry, saying, "The journey to today began most obviously with the now legendary story of an aspiring author, JK Rowling, translating her phenomenal imagination on to paper in the form of the Harry Potter series... Our capacity to produce brilliant works continued into the 20th century with the great British pioneers of film and television, both here and in Hollywood."
Prince William and Kate Middleton were also joined by Prince Harry later in the day, who also participated in the festivities. They all certainly looked like they had a lot fun - as we say, a testament to the enduring legacy of Harry Potter.
