Kate Upton has landed the prestigious Sam Edelman shoe campaign because of her unconventional looks. The All-American bombshell has been taking the modeling world by storm, first posing for Jalouse Magazine, and the ever-exclusive Vogue UK and Vogue Italia. Despite her curves and the fact that she doesn’t look like a conventional supermodel, Kate has been booking projects left and right, perhaps marking a change in the way models are being perceived.

David Lipman, the photographer, and Sam Edelman had the initial idea of calling Kate for their new campaign when they saw Kate wearing Sam’s equestrian style boots. David says [via WWD], “We chose Kate because she isn’t stick thin. She’s beautiful and all-American.” Sam Edelman also added, “It felt like the right time. It was a hell of a decision to go with an indie girl.”
Kate’s most recent Superbowl ad for the new Mercedes Benz was criticized for being ‘too racy', and apart from that and the Skullcandy campaign, this would be one of her first major modeling campaigns.

Of course, the shots end up taking advantage of Kate’s curves and show her striking various poses in a short, black dress, while wearing the famous Sam Edelman shoe collection. The photos are in black and white, and are one of the more elegant shoots featuring Kate.
