Kate Upton has been going a lot of press for her latest Sport Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover, and after unveiling it officially at the Ed Sullivan theater last week, she is explaining how she got into shape for her shoot.

Although Kate didn’t know that she would be the cover model for SI when she flew to Antarctica for the shoot, she still knew she that she would be in the magazine. There’s obviously a high level of standards that are applied to models who appear in the Swimsuit cover of SI, and as such, Kate knew she had to look a certain way for the shoot.

Her fitness guru explains, “We started out in East Hampton and did very basic track and field work. We did wind sprints at the high school on the track, when the sun went down, we did bleacher drills up and down. And she wasn't very happy about that. That's where we started . . . When we were out at the beach or playground, we did hanging knee raises and the monkey bars. Whatever was around us, we did it." Despite all this, Kate was still criticized by certain people for being ‘too curvy’ for the cover, to which she replied, “Everyone has the right to their own opinion. I am in a good place in my career, so it’s all right.”

That’s definitely a good view to take of all craziness and backlash surrounding her cover, but considering that the SI cover last year launched her career into the stratosphere, we can only wonder what this cover will do – get her that prestigious American Vogue cover, perhaps?
