It's hard to imagine the colorful, candy-coated Katy Perry could be anything other than a pop star. Yet, in a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, Katy made it clear that she thinks of herself as far more than the image she's put forward to the world.

Only pretending? It's hard to imagine Katy without the pop star side
"Honestly, I'm just masquerading as a pop star," Perry states. Currently preparing for her next stage show, the star is training nonstop for the last couple of weeks. Katy is announcing the show on Sept. 20 at the iHeartRadio music festival. Additionally, Perry has a new album coming out titled PRISM.
According to Katy, PRISM is a bit more organic than her last album, 'Teenage Dream,' but still showcases the star's signature fun style. After all, it encompasses some of her experiences of the past year, including her split from ex-husband Russel Brand and a trip to Africa for some self-examination. The album is also inspiring and empowered, featuring defiant survival anthems such as "Roar". Overall, the album took a completely different turn from what the artist expected. Given her personal experiences, Katy expected it to end up being a bit darker than anything she's released before.

A dark side of Katy Perry? That would be hard for us to imagine.
