Singer Katy Perry has admitted that it would be an absolute honour to receive a nomination for this year’s Oscars. Katy is in contention to be one of the nominees for Best Original Song, for her track Wide Awake, which is taken from her concert movie Part of Me 3D.

Perry was talking to USA Today when she said, “It's like a dream's dream. When I was growing up and working on music, it was always a dream to win a Grammy, but Oscar was so far out of my dream sphere.”
She added, “This would be a nomination of a completely different calibre. One that is more impressive than many other ones I've had. It's interesting to step out of your playing field and to be recognised from a different angle. It would be an honour.”

Adele has received huge praise for Skyfall
Katy Perry will find out whether Wide Awake has made it onto the Academy’s shortlist of just five songs, when the nominations are officially announced on January 10. Katy will face stiff competition from some impressive songs, including Adele's Skyfall and Florence + the Machine's Breath of Life.
