It has been reported that British actress Keira Knightley is set to portray Coco Chanel in a short film being directed by Karl Lagerfeld. Karl is the creative director for Chanel and is said to be a huge fan of Keira's, having worked with her in the past, as she is the face of Coco Mademoiselle perfume.
The movie is set to centre around the opening of the first Chanel Boutique in 1913 and filming is due to take place in Deauville, the seaside town where the first resort opened. Karl Lagerfeld has ordered retro sets to be made in Deauville to give it a very authentic feel.
Karl Lagerfeld is also believed to be designing Keira Knightley's wedding dress and the actress has previously said of the designer, "Karl's amazing. He's an avid reader, and he speaks about five different languages, so he'll be rattling off in English to you and in French to someone else, and in German to someone else and then the phone rings and he's speaking Italian."
The Karl Lagerfeld directed Coco Chanel movie, which will star Keira Knightley in the lead role, is expected to be shown at the Chanel Cruise Show in Singapore in May.
